RICHARDS SPUR
DIAPSID ARAEOSCELID?
Eureptilia - Araeoscelidae
References
Carroll(1968) described a diapsid
parietal from Richards Spur as belonging to a neodiapsid, mainly on the basis of
the absence of the surface for postorbital articulation in the anterior wing of
the same parietal.
The presence of a maxillary process for
the suture with palatine limited posteriorly by suborbital fenestra, is
considered a diagnostic character of diapsids. The mammillary processes on the
vertebra neural spine and slender limbs are considered diagnostic characters of
the diapsid araeoscelids.
