CTENOSPONDYLUS

Synapsida-Eupelycosauria-Sphenacodontidae

References

Ctenospondylus is a  large size synapsid eupelycosaur sphenacodontid, the skull is very similar to Sphenacodon and Dimetrodon, but differs from the first in having much longer neural spines, and from the second because the neural spines are flattened from side to side and broad in the longitudinal plane.

1) Ctenospondylus: articulated lumbar vertebrae in lateral view

2) Ctenospondylus: spine in frontal view

3) Ctenospondylus: centrum in frontal view
